MEETING WITH THE TAGISH RIVER HABITAT PROTECTION AREA STEERING COMMITTEE - July 19th
The Tagish LAP Steering Committee held a joint meeting with the Steering Committee overseeing the development of a management plan for the Tagish River Habitat Protection Area. There are many overlapping planning issues given the river's significance to Tagish residents. The meeting was a success and we look forward to meeting with this group again!
DISCUSSION PAPERS & BACKGROUND REPORT NOW ONLINE - January 25th
The Tagish LAP Background Report and Discussion Papers can now be found here. The Background Report summarizes the current knowledge about the planning area. The Discussion Papers synthesize key issues for Tagish and highlights various options for addressing them. The Discussion Papers will be the main focus of the upcoming public sessions in Tagish, Whitehorse, and Carcross.
Please note that the Discussion Papers include the background information and questions that the Planning Team will be seeking input on during the upcoming public sessions and online survey, set to launch in mid-February from this website (see Surveys tab on the Local Area Plan menu).
UPCOMING PUBLIC SESSIONS - January 25th
We had a great time at the Community Centre on December 10th with a group of youth from Tagish. The kids learned Tagish trivia, talked about the things they value most about the community, and sketched up maps of their "dream" Tagish of the future. Thank you Patrick and Ursula for helping us out!

The Planning Committee and Planning Team met on Thursday, October 15th and are looking ahead to a busy fall and winter. The Community Survey #1 results are posted on the Documents and Maps page - have a look!

TAGISH PLANNING WEEK - June 21st
It's fun. It's filled with activities. It's all about Tagish. It's Tagish Planning Week! Over a 4-day period, the Planning Team will be in Tagish and Carcross to talk to as many people as it can! Drop by our booths at the C/TFN General Council or Tagish Canada Day festivities or take part in one (or all!) of our focus group sessions on specific planning topics.
The community survey was closed after hitting 100 responses by the June 15 deadline. Thanks to all those who shared their thoughts with us - we'll be reporting the results back to you during Tagish Planning Week.
LUNCH N' PLAN SESSIONS IN TAGISH & CARCROSS
The Tagish LAP really kicked into high gear in late May/early June with our first two community meetings.
Over 40 people packed into the Tagish Community Centre on Saturday, May 30th for a series of lively discussions around local values, issues and challenges, and how people envision Tagish in the future. This meeting was followed up by a similar session in Carcross on Wednesday, June 3rd at the Carcross/Tagish First Nation Government Offices that attracted about 15 participants.
The Planning Team and Committee members heard a diversity of opinions at these two meetings, but some key themes are beginning to emerge - ones that will inform the focus of our planning efforts. We thank all of you who came out and look forward to continuing the conversation during Tagish Planning Week!
